Is “hunger for wealth” the ultimate fuel of entrepreneurship?

Actually, research shows that motivation alone isn’t enough. Tracking 1,128 nascent entrepreneurs over six years, Renko and Freeman (2017) found that misalignment is the primary reason many founders never actually launch. It’s about Person-Opportunity Fit.

Well, isn’t the finding precisely an argument to think that hunger for wealth is the “fuel”? Because if the entrepreneurs realize that expected revenues don’t match their ambitions, they will they stop putting in the effort to start the business? In other words, they do other things that better satisfy their hunger for wealth. Just curious!
