Entrepreneurship research often studies emotions through interviews, surveys, and written narratives. But emotions are not always easy to put into words. Ginting-Szczesny (2022) introduces colour timelines as a research method to explore the emotional journeys of entrepreneurs.

Entrepreneurs represent different stages of their journey using colours. These colours then become prompts for deeper reflection and storytelling.

The method reveals that colour can help researchers:

🟢 give form to complex emotions
👥 share analytical power with the participant
👀 provide a visual space for holistic reflection over time

In short, colour can unlock emotional insights that words alone may struggle to capture.
